Teams Templates
Summary¶
In this article, you will learn how to connect Microsoft Teams templates with Valo Teamwork templates.
A team template in Microsoft Teams is a definition of a team's structure designed around a business need or project. The scenarios covered go from education, to financial, to healthcare, and more.
Prerequisites¶
Microsoft Teams templates can only be configured for Valo Teamwork Team templates.
How to use Teams Templates with Valo Teamwork?¶
Select Site Template
Via a dropdown available from the Template Edit Panel, admins are able to select Teams template which will be used to extend the provisioning of a workspace.
- Navigate to the Teamwork Admin site, for example, https://{tenant}.sharepoint.com/sites/teamworkadmin
- Open Templates tab
- Choose the template you wish to edit and click on Edit template behind the three dots
- Expand the Provisioning section from the Edit template panel
- Select from the drop down the Teams Template you wish to connect with the Valo Teamwork template that will be provisioned during a workspace creation
- Click on Save to save the settings

Note
By default, the Teams Templates value will be set to Standard.
Supported Teams Templates¶
Pre-built Teams Templates¶
Pre-built team templates are templates designed for specific industries.

Out-of-the-box Teams templates¶
Out-of-the-box (OOTB) Microsoft Teams templates are templates that Microsoft has created for specific industries. Those templates don't appear in Microsoft Teams for Education and cannot be configured for Valo Teamwork when Teamwork is installed in such a tenant.
You can find the actual list of supported OOTB Teams templates from the Teams Templates dropdown in the Template Edit panel. For more information about pre-built and OOTB Teams templates, how to manage them, and the full templates list, see Get started with team templates in the Teams admin center.
Custom Teams templates¶
Custom team templates provide a predefined team structure with a set of channels, tabs, and apps that administrators can create in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center to help users to create the right collaboration space.
The Teams Templates dropdown will also show custom Teams templates.
Known issues¶
Not all Teams templates available in Template Edit panel¶
The currently available API to load Microsoft Teams templates only returns all Teams templates (out-of-the-box and custom-built) for signed-in users that have at least the Teams administrator role. For ordinary users, this API returns 403 Forbidden. As a workaround and while we wait Microsoft Graph to release an already announced API to read Teams templates, Valo Teamwork will show a hardcoded list of out-of-the-box Teams templates. In this case, Valo Teamwork won't display custom-built Teams templates because those can only be retrieved during runtime.
